If you want to have your webpages and website rank high on Google and other search engines you have to develop some strategies known as Search Engine Optimization or short SEO. Many people think about how to get a higher ranking for their webpages but forget about the other side which is avoiding to get penalized.

Especially since Google came up with the Panda release for their algorithm we know that there are many things that can hurt your ranking. A few minor problems in your web application and you suddenly find your webpage a few pages back in the listing for the search results.

The pages in this chapter are about things I have looked into for the development of my framework and website. The thoughts I am going to share here are therefore things about avoiding to get penalized from a development point of view.

You may also take a closer look at these things in your website because they could have an effect as well on your website's or webpage's search result and search engines like Google, Bing and Yahoo may penalize your ranking.

  • Trailing slashes
2. Google

  • Changes in Meta Content Language
  • Referrer data

Note that I don't consider myself a specialist in SEO but as a developer it is nevertheless a crucial part of my business. The pages are first based on my experience and second to share this experience with you.

If you have a special question feel free to drop me a note with the Contact Form. I will gladly take a look at it and respond as soon as possible.
