Portfolio Overview

Introduction

The Portfolio page is the showcase where you place your work for display. Same here but because most of my work is development or support it does not offer much for visual representation. It's like looking at a funny car at the race track—it looks weird but it will kick your butt.

So, to find the exiting things you have to look under hood which means reading. If you were looking for nice and beautiful pictures am I sorry! I have only words for you. Also see the additional note below.

My framework

I have been working hard the past few years to build my own little framework and this website is part of the result and up since early 2011. I can manage all my content from a backend, i.e. you may call it a Content Management System (CMS). I don't call it a CMS, though, because it goes far beyond what a traditional CMS by definition is and does.

My framework it is build on top of or with the Zend Framework. I have added so many of my own classess to it that is has become more like my own framework. More precisely I would say it is a website builder or even website management tool than framework, though.

Adrian World Design

The best showcase I can present and brag about for hours is what you are looking at right now: my website Adrian World Design. Actually it is more about what I have above My framework.

My website is entirely written in PHP and based on the Zend Framework. This means it is a showcase about my skills with the Zend Framework but also PHP object-oriented programming (OOP) and the Model-View-Controller (MVC) pattern. Furthermore HTML, CSS, a sprinkle of JavaScript and a little bit of web design. My real passion is code and web development, though. Solve problems in a nutshell!

Furthermore the website is running on a Linux platform hosting a few more websites all incorporating My Framework mentioned above. Therefore it also serves as a showcase for web hosting and server management.

The Countries List website has been a little project of mine and where you can create lists with countries in various formats and languages. The website is build with My Framework and runs on My Hosting Network.

My Hosting Network

This website and all other websites listed and linked here are running on my own hosting network in the AWS cloud.

I became increasingly frustrated with the existing hosting providers and their solutions for managing multiple websites not only for myself but also for my clients. Hence, I was thinking about building my own hosting solution and as a former server systems engineer I knew what it should look like. Thankfully we are at the dawn of cloud computing.

My hosting envirionment is currently running on Linux servers in the Amazon Cloud AWS EC2 and so far it runs more than just well. I am looking forward to add more functionality to it.
