Browser statistics
Created: Last updated:
If you ever wondered which browser is most popular and used primarily by web professionals like web designers/developers I can show you the statistics for my website.
My website is visited by mostly these species. Most of my content in the Knowledge Base has a pretty good SEO ranking with Google's search engine; I can see a lot of hits in that part or segment of my website.
Combined with the keywords I can assume that these are mostly developers or web designers.
Google Analytics
Google Analytics shows a pretty interesting picture which browser is preferred by the viewers coming to my website.
Google's Chrome and Firefox
In the lead with a margin of just a few hits and percentages is Google's Chrome (blue) browser followed immediately by Firefox (green). Between them they have a +80% share which I think is quite remarkable if not amazing.
Poor Microsoft with their Internet Explorer is the orange slice under 10%. Apple's Safari (yellow) is not that far behind with 5,69%; however it is not clear if this is a desktop and iPhone/iPad/iPod combined number. Especially when you consider that the next slice (light blue) is the "Android Browser" at 1,8%.
Some official numbers
As an update on 5/21/2012 an article on businessinsider.com says that Google Chrome just passed Internet Explorer to become the world's most popular web browser.
